Spotify Playlists for Working, Running, and More

Anyone else meticulous about how you organize your Spotify playlists? Over the years, I’ve had playlists by genre, decade, and even year of discovery. However, I recently pulled my favorite tunes from the last decade of listening and organized them by designated activities.

I have a playlist for working, running, exercising, relaxing, doing chores, fun times, and even getting married. Did I spend hours creating these playlists in my free time? You bet. Was it worth every moment to have the perfect soundtrack for every minute of my life? Most definitely.

For Working

Most of my day is spent writing or creating content, and I can’t focus with lyrics running in the background. A mix of chill, instrumental music—including classical piano and guitar, low-fi beats, and some classic shoegazing tracks—this playlist is perfect for intense working sessions and studying.

For Running

I recently started training for a half marathon. As a new runner, the miles can get monotonous and, at times, miserable. I compiled a playlist of songs old and new that make me feel plain old happy, even on the worst days. A mix of upbeat, motivating, and high-energy tracks, this playlist has carried me through the most brutal running days.

For Working Out

A good pump-up playlist is an essential gym accessory. Featuring my favorites from Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Cardi B, Lizzo, and more, this playlist is an empowering mix of pop and rap, perfect for pumping iron or getting your sweat on.

For Relaxing

Sometimes you just need chill tunes in the background. I love this playlist for winding down in the evenings, having a chill Sunday morning at home, relaxing when I’m stressed, or in the background while I paint or craft. Mixed with folk and acoustic tunes, this is the perfect playlist for chilling.

For Chores

This playlist is inspired by my parents. I have so many childhood memories of doing chores, yardwork, and home projects on the weekends. We had an old radio in the garage, and parents would blast “oldies” while we worked. To this day, I love listening to throwbacks while doing my chores.

For Good Times

My favorite playlist for cooking, hanging out, or having friends over, “Good Times” is a collection of upbeat pop and rock tracks. This playlist has a feel good vibe without overpowering the room.
